WoW Webstats How-To

Please make sure that if you're going to upload WEBSTATS data, its information that people actually give a shit about. Don't upload data of a 10-man raid full of alts and pugs that nobody is going to analyze simply because you're first on DPS. WEBSTATS is a tool to increase our raid effectiveness, and I'd prefer it not be full of bull-shit raids/PVP/etc. data that people will never look at again.

To upload your combat log to WoWWebStats.com you will need a combat log you can use a tool like WWSA to automatically turn your combat log on and off based on the zone/instance you are entering.

If you're going to log for Webstats, you'll need to increase the distance that your CombatLog will log events for, so that you will have accurate data. Enter in the following commands in WoW, and make sure you exit afterward so the settings are changed:

/console SET CombatLogRangeParty 200
/console SET CombatLogRangePartyPet 200
/console SET CombatLogRangeFriendlyPlayers 200
/console SET CombatLogRangeFriendlyPlayersPets 200
/console SET CombatLogRangeHostilePlayers 200
/console SET CombatLogRangeHostilePlayersPets 200
/console SET CombatLogRangeCreature 200

Before the Raid starts delete your current WoWCombatlog.txt located most likely at c:\program files\world of warcraft\logs\wowcombatlog.txt so that the only data in the log is the current raid.

After the Raid Browse to http://wowwebstats.com/14pcqxmelevpg and start the WWS Client using the Client-Link on the site.

WWS login: officer@agilurso
WWS password: ****** (Ask Agilurso or Stimutacs for the password)

Add your combat log,Raid note and click the 'Host Report' button.

Your browser will automatically go to the WWS login page so that you can ok the report. Login with the same info above.

One thing I can strongly recommend is that you create a batch file to regularly delete your combat log. WebStats only allows you to upload a combat log with less that 12 hours of data, so if you've been logging instances for a few days without deleting your log, you'll have to manually trim your combat log before you can upload data, which is a pain in the ass.

In Windows, open Notepad, and type in the following:

@echo off
cls

DEL "C:\PROGRAM FILES\WORLD OF WARCRAFT\LOGS\WOWCOMBATLOG.TXT"

Save the file as: C:\Windows\combatlog.bat

Now, in your system's control-panel, you need to open up your Task Scheduler (or Scheduled Tasks).

Create a new scheduled task, and point it to use C:\Windows\Combatlog.bat

Schedule it to run every day at a time when you're not likely doing an instance that you'll be logging (but still at a time when your PC will likely be on). For me, I have it run each day at 3pm. This way, it ensures that your combat log is automatically purged each day. All you have to do is make sure you upload your combat log after a raid!
