Event Horizons Webstats How-To
As a means of cutting some of our hosting costs, we'll no longer be using wowwebstats.com, and instead will be hosting our own webstats using Event Horizon Fight Statistics, an open-source project. Please note that general tutorials on using the product are available at Event Horizons' website. The following tutorial will show how to configure your Guildomatic site to host Event Horizon Fight Statistics. One assumption this tutorial makes is that you will be hosting the Fight Statistics output files on a 3rd-party web server (simply because at this time, Guildomatic does not allow either FTP access or multiple-file-hosting). Before trying this, please make sure you have access to a 3rd-party website. Even though your webstats will be hosted outside of Guildomatic, they will still appear as if they are seamlessly integrated into your site. Step 1: Create Guild Page. You will need to create an individual Guild Page to display the results of your Fight Statistics in an iFrame. Administrator Console --> Guild Pages --> New Page. For the "Name" field, use today's date, and make sure the "Content Type" is HTML. The "Title" is important, and this should be something that is a good description of the raid you're posting. Insert your iFrame code in the main-body of the form. Replace the URL with the location of where you've chosen to host your exported Fight Stats.
<iframe src="http://www.sourcepath.com/webstats/53109/index.html" style="width: 100%; height: 4096px" Make the page Public if you'd like anonymous users to view your webstats. Step 2: Create "Hidden" News Item to display Guild Page Links Administrator Console --> News Add Leave this news item's content as BBCODE. In news items, you can use the [page] tags to reference a guild page. In this instance, you can see how by using the date as the Name of your guild-page, it makes linking events extremely simple. Take a look at our example here. [ url=http://wowwebstats.com/14pcqxmelevpg ]Old Webstats[ /url ] Make sure not to "Activate" this news item, as leaving this checkbox blank makes sure it doesn't show up as a news item on your guild's main page. Step 3: Navigation Crumb You can add a "Webstats" link in your navigation crumb that will link to the news-item we just created. The code to do so is as follows: [ url=http://www.mafiosoguild.com/news/show/268242]Webstats[ /url ] For future Fight Statistics, simply create another Guild Page, and then edit the existing News item with your corresponding Guild-Page ID.
